Money = happiness?

Optimists loudly preach that happiness is not money. But pessimists complement: happiness is not in money but in their quantity …

Why some people are satisfied with their lives, although they have little income, while others continually suffer over missed opportunities due to lack of funds? How does money really affect our sense of happiness?

I want to be a millionaire

Among numerous studies about our attitude towards money, psychologists encounter two very interesting questions. The first is why some people have a lifetime of low paid work, complain about this but do nothing to change it? And the second – why millions of lottery winners may also fall into depression?

So why do we agree to work for little money? Here’s the biggest paradox encountered by specialists – if we work in an unpleasant workplace, low payment – pay attention! – is our great excuse for doing it.

What could be the reason for such irrational behavior? Because every day we are engaged in work which we do not like, our subconscious helps us to overcome this psychological discomfort, and leads us to believe in the importance of what we do. That is why many of us do not make any effort to find better paid jobs. And are even proud of their life.

A large increase in wages does not lead to improved performance and increased levels of satisfaction. Oxford experts have concluded that people who earn large amounts from lottery soon begin to get bored. Money can not make life more complete. And often such people are starting to spend too much money on shopping, alcohol, sweets …

Apparently happiness can not be bought. Millionaires feel comfortable with their accumulated wealth because they have not just won this money, but have dealt with something that they like and have realized their ideas.

With money anything is possible!

When you attach emotions to money, it can find its place in your value system. For example, it may symbolize safety and confidence in the future or control and power.

It is good when our money bring us happiness and satisfies our emotional and physical needs, but if you have internal contradictions, then your attitude towards money will be a problem. There are even extreme cases, when people do moral harm to themselves or others because they develop the wrong attitude to money. Some fear for the future and this provokes them to deprive themselves of almost everything in order to save money.
